The US Airforce paid $25'000 US to research the possibility of teleporting troops and or material. The report, after discussing what scientists currently know about quantum teleportation, worm holes and parallel universes, concludes that "We are still very far away from being able to entangle and teleport human beings and bulk inanimate objects" and recommends spending an additional 7 million dollars for further research.
I would have loved to have gotten that contract: 25 thousand American just to tell them "Yeah, I don't know how to do it. Try giving me another 7 million."
MSNBC article on the topic is here.
