Adventury Dream

I had a dream a long time ago, maybe a few years ago (and then again, maybe I never had it, and this is just a false memory implanted by this more recent dream). The world of the dream was sort of a cross between Mario and Zelda, with me as the hero. The setting was an urban town, modern day with motorcycles and cafes and such. I don't really remember the beginning, but the way it ended, the sweet old lady who you assumed would never harm a fly actually betrayed the princess and I. After some trials, again the details of which I don't remember, I managed to find the old lady again, and confront her. She revealed that she believed that the humans were doomed, and the age of the Dragon was beginning. That's when I discovered that she had stolen a dragon egg in her room, and had begun casting some sort of ritual to transform herself into a dragon (her skin had started to become leathery and greenish). When she saw that I was with the princess, I think she had a flicker of doubt in her eyes about the doom of the humans, but soon (perhaps to kill out that doubt), proclaimed that the great Dragon was rising now and we would soon all be dead anyway, cackling like and evil witch. So I killed her, or "ended her misery" if you prefer, and went down to face the evil dragon who was apparently named Bowser.

Bowser wasn't like the cartoony thing in the videogames. He was actually a rather serious looking and scary dragon, much bigger than me. I think just his incisors might have been the size of my whole body. A smaller, more humanoid dragon, one about the same size as me, was acting as the Dragon Priest, and was performing some sort of ritual to "activate" Bowser. When I fought him, Bowser was fully active, and I don't remember the details, but I beat him.

Only after defeating Bowser did the princess inform me that this world was going to be destroyed (typical video game logic, and it make sense when you're dreaming), so we rush to an elevator (I don't know why), and she kisses me before we part, with the elevator door closing, and me crying my eyes out for being separated from my love. And that's when I wake up. Even if the logic of that world no longer holds me, the intensity of the emotions did.

Last night, I dreamt up the sequel to the prior dream, though I didn't realize this until the very end. I was walking around a similar town (apparently each incarnation of this world is slightly different), doing similar adventury things (I vaguely remember a chase scene with a chef chasing me as I rode away on a motorcycle). Anyway, to cut to the part I do remember, two busboys I had befriended from the cafe had taken me to a washroom in the large hotel to hide from something, and that's when the princess (who was now Yuriko) and I "remembered" each other. I must have remembered it more vividly than her, as I had to explain "Remember when Patrick introduced you to me? You paused and stared at me for a while, and there was this awkward silence. It's 'cause you had already known me!" or something like that (which by the way is completely fictional; that's now how Yuri and I met in "real life"). Again, via some strange twist of video game logic, by kissing me in her previous incarnation, and allowing her saliva to escape into my world, she managed to retain some of her memories into this world. Or something like that. Whatever the reason, she remembers me from "before the universe was created" and no one else does.

After this reunion, we head to the stairwell, and I use my sword as a mirror to peer down. Once again, I see the Dragon Priest trying to resurrect Bowser, and so Yuri and I head into the elevator, going down, to slay them. I don't know what the plan was, but for some reason, Yuri and I had decided to hide in the elevator. Fortunately enough, flush into one of the oak walls was a small closet with some shelves, and on the floor, two cardboard boxes, one of them filled with some sort of fruit (Watermelon?) and the other empty. My first thought is I'm gonna hide in the empty cardboard box, and Yuri shall hide in the closet, but our attempt at that revealed that I was too big to fit in the box. So I said we should switch, but I found out that the shelves, made of plywood or something like it, were much too pliable to support me. "That's why you should go in the boxes!" Yuri protested. I knew that that was impossible, but I didn't really want to get into explaining why to her. Instead, I just took random things in the closet (blankets, tin boxes, a bowling ball?) and placed it underneath the target shelf to support it.

That's when I heard some sound, like big footsteps, and I was scared. I said "Let's get out of here" and just bolted out of the elevator and up the stairs, not waiting for Yuri to follow (she did though, slightly slower). As I ran up, on one of the floors, I saw the door knob turning, so I stopped, and crouched at the edge of the top of the current flight of stairs, sword ready. Yuri caught up behind me, not sure what was going on, but smart enough to stop behind me and stay quiet. When the door opened, it was that of an old lady, and I knew I had found the reincarnation of the traitorous witch. So I rushed forwards and shoved her right back into the room. She was on the floor, stunned, as Yuri came in and closed the door behind her. I forget how the beginning of the conversation went, but eventually she tried to cover herself with her cloak, to which I yelled at her to get out of that twice, to no avail, so I sliced my sword through it, cutting her arm a bit, but shredding the cloak. As expected, she was hiding an egg there (these eggs look like Yoshi's eggs). "That's Dragon's blood you're drinking!" she said, even though no one was drinking anything. "I know", I told her, and I explained to her that all of this happened before, more or less telling her the summary I gave you at the beginning of this post. When I got to the part about beating Bowser, she said "But was he fully grown?" "Yeah," I said, "he was grown alright." "What about fully active?" she asked. "Yes. Fully active." "Was he hungry? Frenzied? Full speed?" "Wait, what?" I stumbled "I don't know what you mean... I guess he must have been hungry that time..." She interrupted my thoughts with a laugh, obviously implying that this time was different, and that this time I would fall to the might of Bowser. Frustrated, I barked back "Shut up, you wanna know how it ended?" as I haven't told her about the universe being destroyed and all that. But that's when I woke up this time. So I didn't get to actually see if I could beat this stronger version of Bowser, and if this time Yuri would follow me out of the Dream world, and what other little variations would ensue.
