The context is my mom is watching me play Fable 2. There's this old lady told me to go find her son Charlie in the Tomb of Heroes. I find him, and we're fighting through hordes of zombies on our way out of the tombs, and I see Charlie get pummelled hard 5 or 6 times, but he just keeps fighting, so I figure he's one of those NPCs which, as part of the story, simply can't die, so I'm taking my sweet time, exploring every nook and cranny of the tomb to make sure I don't miss out on any treasure, not caring if Charlie gets hit or not. But then, I guess while Charlie had a lot of HP, he didn't have infinite, 'cause he eventually dies while I was still goofing around in the tomb. My objective text has changed from "Escape the tomb with Charlie" to "Show Charlie's hat to granny."

Neb: Well, fuck.
Mom: What happened?
Neb: Charlie died... What should I do? Should I reload?
Mom: Why don't you just show Charlie's hat?
Neb: 'Cause then the old lady is gonna whine and cry and I don't want to deal with that.
Mom: Why don't you just not tell her that Charlie died?
Neb: Well, 'cause the mission says...
Mom: Why don't you just show the hat, but not say that he died?
Neb: Do you really think the game is gonna let me do show the hat and simultaneously not let me tell her that he died?
Mom: Why do you gotta tell her that he died?
Neb: It's probably gonna be a cutscene where I don't have control over the actions of my character!
Mom: The hat itself isn't evidence that he died.
Neb: Uh, yeah... it IS...
Mom: No, 'cause if he were still alive, he'd be with you.
Neb: You're just strengthening my argument! If he were alive, I'd him show granny, but since I'm showing the hat instead, it means he's dead!
Mom: Not necessarily.
Neb: I don't even know why you're pursuing this argument! You wanna bet $100 that if I show the granny the hat, she'll think Charlie is dead?
Mom: Okay, fine.

We exit the tomb.

Granny: Oh, Charlie! Thank goodness you're safe! You've been a naughty boy, but since it's your birthday, I'll forgive you. Here's your present.

Neb: ...
Neb: OMG.
Neb: She thinks I'm Charlie.
Neb: ...
Mom: You owe me $100.
