The rationality of a guy's fear of getting raped by homosexual males.

Betty Rose asks:

why is it that as soon as someone finds out you're gay or bi, they assume you must be attracted to everyone of the same sex? i find that this especially applies to guys, their total fear of gay men seems to stem from the fact they think they will be hit on, or even raped, by every homosexual they encounter. and on the same merit, if you're bi, then wow, you must be attracted to ever single person you see! apart from being hugely insulting, and quite ridiculous, isn't this assumption rather big headed?

To which I respond: you don't state what behaviour you see in people which leads you to believe that they think they will get raped by every homosexual they encounter, so I'll have to make some assumptions here. I'm guessing that most guys you've met don't mind being in the same room as homosexuals, but don't like receiving shoulder rubs from them, being seen naked by them, or being touched by them in certain parts of the body.

This actually has nothing to do with homo- or bisexuality, and the behaviour is easily seen in heterosexual people as well: A lot of girls will accept shoulder rubs from other girls (whom they presume to be heterosexual), be seen naked by other girls, and allow girls to touch parts of their bodies (e.g. their breasts) and would not allow guys the same privileges.

For whatever reason, the idea of someone getting off thanks to you, when you're not getting off thanks to them, is disturbing to people. If I find a person very attractive, and masturbate while thinking of them, this has no impact on their life. But if I tell this person that I masturbate while thinking of them, and if this person is not sexually attracted to me, they will probably feel uncomfortable about this. Why? I don't know why, but that is apparently human nature. And it's true regardless of whether the attraction is homosexual or heterosexual in nature.

This is one aspect in which all sexual orientations are treated equally.
