The monthly pass for the public transit system is $2 cheaper this month. It's $61 instead of $63. Unfortunately, when I bought the card, I handed the ticket-lady $65 and she gave me $2 in change, and I thought nothing of it until the next day.
Also, I purchased a new computer a while ago. It's called Reuse and is my new primary desktop. The old desktop, Dewdrop, stayed as WinXP for a while as I was copying the files over the network. Then, when all the files made it through, I started installing various Linux distributions on it. I tried Suse, Ubuntu and Fedora Core. The goal was to get Zimbra working. Zimbra looks like a really cool AJAX based e-mail client. Unfortunately, I couldn't get Zimbra installed, as it was much too complicated for me.
But while Fedora Core was on Dewdrop, it reported that the CPU was overheating. So I reboot Dewdrop and went into the BIOS to check the temperatures, and the CPU was at 75 degrees Celcius. Apparently, anything about 70 is "very bad". So I immediately shut down my computer.
I've ordered a Zalman fan, and it just arrived today. So I installed the fan (it's huge), and now the CPU is running at 50 degrees Celcius. What a difference! I'm working on installing Ubuntu right now, because I want to "get into" Linux, and Ubuntu was the most pleasant/least painful of all the distributions I tried.
