I've been so busy these last few days and without energy which is why I haven't posted in quite a long time.
Everybody who cares has probably heard by now, but 2K has upgraded to DrumMania 9th mix. I was there when they upgraded, so I had "influence" on the settings. The default volumes are 20, but the guy didn't want it so loud, so he set it to 18/18. I got him to change that to 19/20 where 19 is the background music volume and 20 is the sound effect volume.
You get 3 songs, and bonus track counts as 1 song. But please don't play 3 bonus tracks in a row. That's just rude. Play at most 1 bonus track. You still get 2 normal stages. That's a pretty good deal.
Job is going okay. I'm sort of writing a COBOL compiler, and it's a real pain, because nobody follows the ANSI COBOL 85 standard. I mean ANSI published a document with rules about what is and what isn't legal syntax in a COBOL program, but actual vendors (like IBM or RM or whatever) made compilers that accept programs that aren't ANSI COBOL 85 compliant. And I have to be able to interpret all of them. Sucks.
Meiko's in Japan, and before she left I gave her some money to buy PS2 games for me. Here's the games she got, along with their Lik-Sang price in USD. Some of the prices are in a range. That means Lik-Sang doesn't carry that game, so I've put the cheapest and highest price game in the same series (for example Lik-Sang doesn't carry IIDX 7th Mix, but the cheapest IIDX game is $64.90 and the most expensive IIDX game is $69.90, so price I estimate for IIDX 7th mix is $64.90~$69.90)
Beatmania II DX 7th Style | ($64.90~$69.90) |
Beatmania II DX 9th Style | ($64.90) |
Taiko 3 | ($29.90~$64.90) |
SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos | ($34.90) |
Katamari Damacy | ($34.90) |
Magna Carta | ($49.90) |
Gradius 5 | ($36.90~$59.90) |
ANUBIS ZOME OF THE ENDERS | ($29.90) |
Viewtiful Joe | ($34.90) |
Total: | $381.10~479.00 |

She paid $256.89 USD for the games, or about $317.53 Canadian at time of writing. I love buying video games in Japan because the clerks always give you mass discounts. Combine that with Meiko being a savvy bargainer and you are teh winnar.
Hence the 祭うのガームの日本。ウート!!! in my name which literally translates to "Festival of games of Japan. W00t!"
Actually, I don't think too many used game stores give discounts like this one. Since this particular store is small with just 3 branches, plus the clerks have authority to give discounts, they do so. Some stores just hire whoever even if he/she doesn't know anything about games, and even if he/she does, the store may not let him/her give discounts. So you gotta go to several places, compare the prices, ask if they give discounts and all. If you are a smart consumer, Japan is not too bad of a place for shopping.
