Skip Elsheimer has written an article about "VD Attack Plan", a Disney film about venereal disease. The military had requested for Disney to produce many films, some for propaganda, and others to educate the soldiers. A soldier with VD might not be able to participate in battle for over a year while he is treated, which was why the military willing to commission these films.

What makes Disney's film unique is rather than having the plot be a kid find out he has VD, and then "[spending] the next twenty guilt-ridden minutes being lectured on venereal diseases and the toll it takes on the untreated", the film was shot from the perspective of "troupes" of germs (the syphilis and gonorrhea brigade) being briefed before a mission. Elsheimer points out "A problem with having a film with actors is that film can quickly become outdated and an audience will often shrug off a message delivered by actors with corny dialogue and antiquated fashion. By focusing on animated germs, Disney made a film that is virtually timeless." Furthermore, Disney was courage enough to address the fact that VD can be contracted from same-sex activities, and that it could be prevented by wearing a condom (other documentaries did not address homsexuality at all, and only presented abstinence as a preventative measure).

The main writer for VD Attack Plan was Les Clark who also did Steamboat Willie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Fantasia, and is still showed in classrooms today.
