There's an Australian wife carrying competition in which you have to carry your wife through an obstacle course. If you win (by arriving first, presumably), you win your wife's weigh in beer. Since I don't drink beer, I wonder if I'm allowed to run with carrying no wife and winning no beer; Organiser Peter Heffernan says the competition is open to anyone and entrants do not have to be married to participate.
To me, this is a very interesting game design in which the players are (in theory) allowed to gamble on the difficulty (by taking on a heavier or lighter weight) and their winnings are scaled accordingly. You want to take on the maximum weight possible while still winning first place.
